RESPONSIBLE DISPOSABLES

From pleasing a new era of eco-conscious diners to cutting waste and costs, sustainability is becoming more and more essential to foodservice operations. Our growing selection of Serve Good^® Responsible Disposables include cups, plates, napkins, cutlery, containers and more made from materials that are certified, verified or classified as one or more of the following: recyclable, compostable, post-consumer content, biobased or responsibly sourced virgin pulp.

RECYCLABLE

When a product or package can be re-processed and made into the same or a similar product.  Many items that meet the Serve Good standards are either fully recyclable or contain components that can be recycled with certification by How2Recycle^®.

COMPOSTABLE

Once a product or package is ready to be disposed of, it is considered “compostable” if it can be provided to an industrial composting facility to be biodegraded into commercial compost. Many items that meet the Serve Good standards are certified to be compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), OK Compost, Compost Manufacturers Alliance (CMA) or other comparable certifications.

POST-CONSUMER

When a product or package is made (either entirely or partially) from recycled materials that have been recovered from end user waste streams, that product is said to contain post-consumer content. Many items that meet the Serve Good standards will contain some level of post-consumer content either used in the product, the package or a combination of both, verified by affidavits from independent manufacturers.

BIOBASED

When a product or package is made from renewable resources typically derived from agricultural and sustainable raw materials. Many items that meet the Serve Good standards contain or are entirely made from biobased sources and classified by the USDA BioPreferred program.

RESPONSIBLY SOURCED VIRGIN PULP

When a product or package contains paper materials that are sourced from sustainable, renewable and responsibly managed virgin feed stocks.  Many wood pulp-based items that meet Serve Good standards contain responsibly sourced materials with certification by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (FSI).
